Sightseeing and Day Trips

Makaha is not a tourist area, however, if you have a car there are many things to do on the island of Oahu. Here are some ideas to try:

Drive to the Pali Lookout for a great view of the island. Dress warm, it get's VERY windy!

For kids, Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, Sea Life Park and the Honolulu Zoo are fun.

Go to Waikiki and see it's attractions.

For shopping, visit the Waikele Shopping Center or Ala Moana (the largest open air shopping center in the United States).

Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park
This new Oahu attraction is less than 30 minutes away from Makaha. If you go with kids, plan on spending most of the day there! It has some pretty fun rides for the adults too!

Sea Life Park
A fun place to view marine life, watch entertaining shows and feed the seals.

Polynesian Cultural Center
"Seven pacific island villages set up on 42 tropical acres"

Waikele Shopping Center
This attractive shopping center has dozens of factory outlet stores. It has two halves with a cute "trolley" shuttle between the two sides. Other stores include Borders Books and Music, Eagle Hardware and K-Mart (about a 45 minute drive from Makaha).

Aloha Tower Martketplace
Another nice place to shop, located at the site of the historical Aloha Tower (in Honolulu, about an hour away).

Ala Moana Shopping Center
For a mega-dose of shopping, visit the famous Ala Moana Shopping Center. (also in Honolulu, about 1 hour away)
